GROUND-REALITY UNDERSTANDING PROGRAM (GUP)
EWB supports the integration and entailment of the university community in volunteering positions through the Ground-reality Understanding Program. Accordingly, participants in the training program stay in one of the EWB projects while they carry out activities focused on Technology for human development, as a project support. Thus, EWB aims to draw youth in the North closer to the reality in the countries of the South as well as introducing them into the world of cooperation.
The program aims to promote attitudes and procedures to teamwork and problem solving from a collective perspective. Therefore, this experience of coexistence in a different socio-cultural reality allows the participants to question both their value system and the technical skills learnt in engineering schools.
Enrolling on a GUP is a good excuse to develop skills, creativity, ingenuity as well as to exchange experiences and to reinforce values education.
Thus, participants become part of a training cycle in which they gain not only specific knowledge on technical skills but on technology for human development too.
